vibration issue
i noticed today, under light throttle-between 25-30mph, i have a slight vibration i can feel in the pedal. it quickly goes away above 30mph. any ideas where to look?
checking them
There is really no way if they have no slop,I had this problem and had mine changed and it fixed it.I just listened to what everybody on here said.If you are gonna do it,have a shop do it(they are tighttttttttttttt).I did them my self on my 01,but I'm glad I didn't try it on this one.
Are the U Joints a common problem on our trucks? Seems like I have read a few threads on the problem. I have 106K on my truck now (bought it with 96K) and I serviced the rear end the other week, and looks like the U Joints are original, and if not, they have definitely been on there for awhile from the looks of the them.

might sound crazy, but check your oil level, I had a bit of a vibe for a month before my injector totally blew, check it at least once a week and watch for signs that there is more afoot.
I had a similiar vibration. The dealer ended up changing all three u-joints and they replaced the drive-shaft because it was out of balance. This was at about 60,000 miles. When I got it back it was smooth but shortly after the vibration came back. I now have about 76,000 and think I may be in for another change soon...
I just had my left front axle joint and the rear shaft rear joint replaced yesterday. It felt like I was running on rumble strips at 5-10 mph speed. I have 46,000 on mine. However, last year at 26,000 I had both front and rear joints replaced on the rear shaft. So that means the rear joint only made it 20,000 miles. Really sucks that such a great truck has weak joints.
My rear u-joint made it to 32,000 miles. Had dealer replace under warranty but I can feel a slight vibration right around 55 - 62 mph. I don't know if they aligned up the driveshaft when they put it back in the same as when they pulled it out.
That is why I like to try to be my own warranty store. Next time, I will replace with greaseable ones (couldn't find any this time) and do it myself.
