Valve body for 2006 48re

I'm thinking about a new valve body for my 48re with 64500 miles. It floats or hunts gears and has since new. No I didn't tell the dealer as they tried 4 times to put my muffler back on, Long story.

. I tow a 24 foot gooseneck with 2-7 horses 2-3 weekends a month (dumb teamroper). Really interested in those who have experienced valve body swaps. Where, how much worth it and problems. I want a programmer but not sure which one either. I think Ive caught the power bug?.

If you do a search for VB/TC you will get pages and pages of info that will take hours to decipher.

I have a Goerend VB, love it. Shifts great, always predictable great warranty. Approx $500 +/-

I have a Spec-Rite TC and love it. Handles the power and locks-up great.
Approx $1200+/-
