trying to drop valve body 48re

I picked the worst day to do my shift kit as its 20 degrees outside and i am working in my driveway. But i got all the bolts out and couldn't figure out how to drop the e clip or where it is? I then found this link for a 47re i was gonna work off of and wanted to make sure i the right one. I also took the bolt out that goes thru the shift lever. Will it drop out after i remove this clip or is there something else i have to do?

Thats not the shift lever, its the park pawl lever. You can do that but its a pain to put back on.

Jack up one wheel so you can get the trans output shaft to turn by turning a wheel. Line up the parking pawl in its detent by turning the wheel a little and pulling on the VB. Once its lined up you can pull the VB forward and the lever will pop thru the pawl actuator and it will all come out in one piece.

After you remove the TV actuator you will have to pry the shift lever off the shaft to get the VB to drop down. Remember to uplug the wiring harness and remove the range sensor before dropping things.

Nope, thats the trans control harness plug locator tab and screw. There was a round plug attached to that that houses all the trans to ECY sensors and controls. Sometimes you gotta push it down from the top or that happens.

What happened to the wires that were attached to the VB and went to the plug that slides up into the case???

The range sensor is the little black box where the neutral safety switch used to be.

So this is that main harness plug that goes thru the top side? Is it bad that its broken and could i repair it with jb weld or an epoxy? or can i leave it how it is?

I couldn't get this plug to pull threw. I was soooo cold i couldn't feel my fingers and i couldn't feel how it could come threw so unbolted the governor and housing(i believe that's what it was). Now another question also is can i reuse that gasket for the housing?

If it was cold thats probably why it would not slide thru. You can probably superglue it or jb weld it but it may not hold the next time.

If you did not rip the governor gasket you can reuse. I normally don't becuase of the risk of issues.

i would be almost finished with this thing if the directions gave a fraction instead of these numbers:

.076
.156
.096
.106
.187

i cant figure out what size drill bit to use since these don't work out to be a normal fractional number

Closest fractions that are typically found in a drill bit set I can think of.

5/64 = .078125
5/32 = .15625
3/32 = .09375
7/64 = .109375
3/16 = .1875
