Personally, I would pass on this truck and start looking at a different one. Too much has been worked on and/or replaced for it to only have 84,000 miles.

I am going to go against the grain here. If you do not need the 2500 to tow or haul something heavy right now, I would suggest just passing on a diesel until you need it.

Yeah I was pricing out 1500s but I want to buy a camper next year and thought I could get the truck now so I'm not looking in a couple years for a diesel anyway. I don't want to buy another truck for awhile I'm hoping.

For the guys that were wondering:

I checked out the warranty they are offering and it is a chrysler warranty.
It is full bumper to bumper with all parts used being chrysler parts with a $100 deductable.

Here's the breakdown
- 1yr/20000km. $3700
- 2yr/40000km. $4175
- 3yr/60000km. $5200

I was thinking of skipping the truck all together but it really is a nice truck and will do whatever I need it to do in the future. And the price is decent too.

So, I'm just waiting for chrysler to give the ok for the new tranny then I can test drive it and get a good look at everything. I may swing by another diesel mechanic I know to look at it as well.

Thanks for all the input guys. I appreciate all your opinions.

Those prices seem high. Did you price the warranty anywhere else?

It will do whatever you want it to, when it is running. It now has 25% of the same use that caused the old motor to be replaced, but on the new motor. Pass on this truck.

Yeah I did check around and got a few quotes. Not a big selection of suppliers in canada.
The few I received quotes from were pretty much the same price except one that was cheaper BUT there was a maximum claim amount per part of vehicle. For example, the most it would pay (ever) was 2500 for tranny repair or 5000 for motor repair. That info was in the small print.

Then the company that brags on their website that they are "up to 60% cheaper" than dealer plans. I called them and they were $1000 more for their 2 year warranty. LOL. So much for being cheaper.

So, chrysler seems to be offering the best price for plan.
