ULSD Lubricity Products

My truck is a '06 RAM 5.9 I'd like to know what is the best commercial made, easily located/purchased fuel additive that increases the lubricity. I only use the truck about every 2-3 weeks for towing an rv - it sometimes may not be used for 4-5 weeks at a time. I currently am using the PS Diesel Kleen + Cetene Boost in the silver bottle. I live in FL so fuel gelling is not an issue. Thanks. PCM

Lot's of reading on this if you have the time. But my vote is for 2stroke. PS every so often to clean things.

I used to run the PS, it is probably the most widely used. I am running the Opti-Lube XPD now. My engine got really quiet, much less rattle and I also saw a fuel mileage increase. They have a website http://www.opti-lube.com you can read about their products. Lots of discussions also on this website and others. I can say that I saw about 1-2mpg change the first tankful, then after continued use I gained more. I plan on running their summer blend once temps get higher.

I second the vote for Opti Lube XPD. I personally do not like the summer blend, but have seen Mileage increases with the XPD as well

I use the PS ulsd formula still. Have nothing to complain about...besides the smell of it if you get just a little on the outside of the bottle...

The best for adding lube to your fuel is to run 2-5% Bio. If you can't find a place that sells 2% or even 5% Bio fuel you could mix in 1 or 2 gallons of 100% Bio (B-100) to 30 gallons of diesel.

Hello. Is this the practice you follow in your truck. My engine is 100% stock, too. I have other mods but more for service/maintenace than performace. They are listed in my signature. I have had a lot of injector issues and have heard this new fuel is hard on them due to lack of lubricity. Thanks. PCM

How well does B100 keep in Plastic Diesel Fuel Cans? I ask because we only have B100 around here and whenever I fill up I usually fill 2 5 gallon containers with regular diesel and when my needle starts to drop from full I pour both in to top her back off again.

If it'd hold for a week or 2 I'd much rather fill up with regular diesel and then dump in a few gallons of B100 and then finish topping off with regular diesel.

I'm using TC-W3 with a little Power Service mixed in.
In the near future I'll experiment with Opti-Lube's Summer Formula.

So right now I'm adding PS AND TC-W3 to my fuel like a lot of you. Would it be more cost effective to just use Opti-Lube XPD now instead of the other 2?

Opti Lube was DESIGNED as a fuel additive and did very well in the independent tests. TCw3 may work, but was not designed specifially for our diesel engines. Just my 2 cents.

what are you guys paying for a bottle of Opti-Lube XPD, where are you getting it and how much and how often are you adding it:?

also what is the differance in the sumer blend and the xpd?

edit: i saw on thier website its 13 bucks for a can that will last 2 tanks. thats 6.50 per tank. seem that running 2stroke oil would be a less expensive route... what benifits does this provide that 2stroke oil dosent?
