Turbo elbows

I was just wondering if there was a difference between the turbo elbows before the downpipes on 03/04 and 04.5+. I read that the outlet on the 03/04 is 3.5" while the newer ones are 4". Is this correct?

adam there is some 5" exhaust sections in the classifieds. I will send you the link I told you about for the downpipe. then all you would need is your stack

Yeah I thought about it, but they are located pretty far away. I don't want to pay a bunch for shipping. I might check out truck pro over by flying J and see how much they want for a 5" elbow and other parts for price comparison.

03/04 HO turbo is the same as 04.5 and up, 4" outlet. the cast elbow though on the 03/04 tapers off from 4" down to 3.5" to which your down pipe connects to. You need to get the cast elbow off of a 04.5 or newer and then you will have true 4" exhaust from turbo back.

Okay do you have a suggestion on where to find one for cheap? I checked classifieds on here with no luck.

you got it, ebay or find someone who installed exhaust barke, price $50 to $100 is where they will be, dealer would not have clue what you are talking about and they won't sell it to you without the turbo. A good friend might give it to you for free. You'll have to change your down pipe once you get the new elbow as your current pipe has been necked down to 3.5"

Well from the looks of it they are going for much cheaper than 50 to 100. I might have to snipe that one that ends in about 6 or 7 hours. It ain't worth bidding now just to get outbid later.
I am going to a stack setup anyway, so I will have a downpipe on order within the next couple of days.

As far as I know the 03's have 3.5" from the turbo to the muffler, and 4" after the muffler. Then they went to full 4" for 04.5+....

yes, if you have not upgraded your exhaust 03/04 HO exhaust is 3.5" from turbo to muffler then 4" from muffler to tail pipe. the turbo itself is 4" outlet. You can have 5" straight piped exhaust, but unless you changed the cast elbow you are still at 3.5" at the beginning of the down pipe.

when i got my straightpipe done the dude that does all my work said it had 4". looked to be all stock exhaust including muffler, it kind of suprised him because he knew it was supposed to be 3.5" already. so he started to make a pipe and then when he went to fit it it was to small.

Well I am going to get one of those elbows. I can tell the difference just by looking at it.
