Difference between these two turbo elbows?

Difference between these two turbo elbows?

Take a look at the pic. One elbow has a relief cut into the flange, on the wastegate cover section. The other does not. Why the difference? Some with the wastegate? One is from a 98 and another from an 01 24V.

Can I use the two interchangeably? TIA

I'm guessing the one for the 01 24 Valve is for an HY35, and the 98 is perhaps for a HX35? There is bound to be some others on here that know.

the one looks to be heavier construction, looks like either one would work with a hx35

I checked the tag at the junkyard, said its an HX-35, same as the one on my '01...
