Truck won't start - Help
Truck won't start - Help
Loaded up my truck with tools and groceries headed out for a long weekend to get some work done at the cabin and wouldn't ya know it...... no go. The engine caught once and then died. I tried a few things, changed the fuel filter etc. did the fuel prime routine a few times. It's coughed and caught once or twice like it wants to start and even half way gets up to idle then stalls. The lift pump kinda makes a loud buzz. I've never paid any attention to them, so I'm not sure if its unusual, but it doesn't sound like a regular electric fuel pump thats for sure.
ANY GUESSES ??
I really need this truck running by morning.....

Had the same thing happen to me. If your key doesn't have the chip in it that the truck recognizes, it will do exactly as you described. Try a different key if you have one.

You were right !!
I was parked down at my shop and the keys were up at the house so I pulled out a hide a key I'd had made up and hidden under the truck. Boy that wouldn't have been much help in a real pickle. Is there a way to dissable the recognition feature so a plain cut key will work ? Or do ya have to buy em from the dealer ?
Regardless... THANK YOU VERY MUCH
You saved our weekend.
I was just getting ready to call a tow truck after I finished my coffee. This is just such a great source for help and tech info.
THanks Again

You can buy spare keys on ebay or from a Mopar mailorder shop much cheaper than the dealer. The owner manual shows the procedure on programming the new key, must have both original keys before programming the new one.
