truck died for no reason???
The other day I was leaving work and talking to a fellow emplyee in the parking lot. My truck had been idling for maybe 5 minutes. It dropped rpms almost to the point of dying but they climbed back up in a matter of seconds. I thought that was weird but nothing else wrong. Yesterday, my wife and I was leaving the house for church and it had been idling again for maybe 3 minutes and this time it did die. It started right back up and no problems after that. There doesn't seem to be an issue with anything else. I replaced my fuel filter about 8000 miles back. The truck has about 40000 miles on it now. Any ideas what could cause this???
I'll second the lift pump. If it is, you'll get the in tank lift pump as a replacement which "should be" more reliable.
Take it to the dealer and they will cover whatever it is under the cummins 7/100 warranty. The dealer might tell you that your truck is out of the 3/36 so the deductible applies, he is wrong. The $100 deductible takes effect after 5 years on the Cummins 7/100. You shouldn't have to pay a deductible.
