Ypur correct. One thing I have come across MANY times is the hiring of WARM bodies.I also have come across butchers, service managers with NO clue but KNEW or was RELEATED to the dealer owner and service advisors WITH NO clue and would not LEARN or read about the product they handle and can shoot a line of crap across a football field. Some smaller towns I always thoght must have a hard time getting/keeping decent service folks.I was in ATLANTA and Greater Atlanta.Monthly got customers from the S.C. and N.C.with auto air problems or driveabilty problems that said THERE is NO one in a dealer or anywhere else in that town that has a CLUE.Most but not all of the time the problem was fairly common to us etc.The CADDY dealer my wife works at I use to get calls from Caddy techs that lived not far away.Wanted to work closer. On discussion they were MAKING a WHOLE lot more then the dealer I worked for would pay and driving PAST us to the perimeter were the bigger money was.Like 80 or 100 mile round trip daily.I just wasn't allowed to pay what they made per hour.I walk into a dealer service dept now and ASK who's been doing this a WHILE and point blank say don't give a line of crap. Then I ask what TECH really knows his shxx and introduce myself.I use a SMALL dealer near the house and the TECH I request is a SMART man.Does Trans,ac,wiring, auto ac etc.He and I are on a FIRST name basis and I complement him often and have turned him on to Dodge.ORG.This site and TDR.He says NOW he reads lots of this at night etc. He's got about 16 years Chrysler only experiance. The sevice writer is a good fellow and knowledgeable. The service manger is a dork and seems to not have too much of a clue.I say hello to him and WAIT on the other fellow.A couple of years ago my 93w250 burned a wire harness and melted a BIG connector for all LIGHTS at 1am in a SMALL Kentucky town.At 7a.m.I was at the Dodge dealer sitting.I did kinda the same thing there and $280 dollars and 3 hours later I was on the road with new connector, switch, soldered and heat shrink taped repaired wiring etc.A NICE repair at a FAIR price and a TECH that when I saw him start I knew he KNEW his Shxx.I tipped him.He grinned from ear to ear.He also found WHAT caused it in short order.

Gdh11 and Hounddog, I think you fellas need to lighten up and back out of this thread before you give yourselves a hernia.

You're asking for this thread to be locked because you can't manage to follow the site rules and keep personal attacks to yourself.

CCOUGHRAN, Sorry to hear about your truck blowing up.... what can I say, it's a bummer.

That said I view this thread as a good thing. It seems that every thread I read makes me want to bomb, after all I'm a motor head and HP is fun to play with, but now that someone has had serious engine failure, I have something negative to balance my desire to bomb.

Its all good though, as long as I have my snowmobile to play with, my go fast needs will be meet and I can enjoy the reliablity of a stock truck, now we just need some snow!!!!

You mean attacks like this - that were started by other members?
hey gdh11 try pep boys maybe they could be better than the pertzel lady at walmart . your the kind of customer i DONT want pulling up on my service drive. you are probably also the guy that pulls up and asks to look at a service manual so you can go home and fix it yourself
EXACTLY like that....so the same applies to whoever said that.

hernia

yes hoss i made the statement you quoted . you have to understand i have 23 years dc dealer experiance only and it gets very OLD hearing this guy or that guy bash all DEALERS based on his experiance with a certain dealer. no gdh11 my feelings arent heart and i can promise you i do net more than your truck is worth. all of your examples are of ford or honda dealers but no dc dealers. i just try to help if someone has a problem that is in my field. i dont go to work hoping some idiot comes in that day hoping i can screw him. attitudes like these are what make me not want to do anything but warranty repair that way i wouldnt be acused of as it was said in an earlier post screwing some customer. there was a guy on another post that was asking for some help on installing injectors in his 03 . he was also talking about servicing his trans. i sent him a copy of the service manual on cd and a pan gskt for free now i ask did i SCREW HIM? the zone tech rep that is the man who voids the warranty on dc vehicle was in my dealer today and we talked about the guy in this post who had his warranty voided . he asked some good questions but if im going to get accused of screwing people maybe it's not worth it. i think from now on i will just browse through the posts and read and not reply. so as stated i wont get my feelings hurt .for the most part there is a great bunch of people on here with alot of good awnsers.

All I can say is that I have always experienced top notch service from both Lewisville Dodge and Lithia Dodge here in the Dallas area. Though, I only had one serious problem and that was on my 98 Dodge to replace my pitted bearings. They handled it in a professional manner, never had to return after the work was performed. I received lifetime oil changes with my new diesel and do not have a problem what so ever to letting them do it. I talk with the techs while waiting and get good information from them, after all this is there day job and they see alot. Now, are all dealers customer oriented, nope. Saying that, are all people willing to help each other, for the most part yes, but there are a few apples that fell too far from the tree. the BEST dealership I have seen to date is the Lexus dealer where my wife bought her car from. They DO go out of the way to make sure you do not have bad experiences. Summing this up, I like my dealership.
