Transmission temp sensor install and warranty

When does the trans warranty expire in an '05 (48re)? I'be been wating until the warranty is up on the trans before intstalling the replacement line with the fitting in it. I've been using the accu-temp fitting from Geno's, which has worked great and it easy, but I'd like to be more sure since there is no way to verify the accu-temp fitting is responding quickly and is accurate.

Well I'm a dumb "e". I guess the way I read the warranty book that comes with the owners manual and service schedule, the trans is part of th 70,000 mile powertrain warranty? Am I reading that right (the book doesn't go into specific parts)? If so, I'll be over that today or tomorrow.

Looks like I'll be placing an order for a replacement line, along with my filter kit from Geno's. Anyone want a slightly used Accu-temp fitting for $20 shipped?

My dealership actually said it was O.K. to put the sender in the hotline. Go ask your dealer and see what they say.

I'm at 69,902 right now anyway. I'll go over 70K with no trans trouble tomorrow, barring some catastrophic failure tonight. I don't like to go near the s t ealer with my truck unless I have to.

After you get the new line installed, post a comparison between it and the AccuTemp. I'm running the AccuTemp and believe it to be very close in performance to having the probe actually in the line. I'd like to have some verification if you can provide it, or convince me it's not working as advertised.

I'd be grateful.

Well, I'm surprised at the difference. The first, is that it reacts a lot faster. Also, it reads higher temps, 10 or 20 degrees. Then, there is hte cruising in converter lockup. With the accutemp, it would drop down to the low point (100 on my gauge). But with the probe in the fluid, it drops down to 140ish and stays there. I think the outside air has too much influence on the accu-temp sensor, and beacause it's reading the line temp it just takes longer to soak up the heat.

Thanks for the info. I actually mis-spoke when I said I had a AccuTemp. I should have said I have something like an AccuTemp. I made mine from a brass fitting. I don't find the temp to drop to that level with mine. It consistenty shows about 140 or so cruising solo locked up and a bit higher towing with only moderate difference due to ambient temps. I'm still not convinced I need response that fast or precise. My objective is to keep the thing from overheating and since I use my foot and shifting down to keep it below 200* on the gauge, I think I'm safe.
