Transmission OD temp sensor

I'm getting ready to install some gauges. What is the thread size on the automatic transmision OD temperature sensor? I want to remove it and install a temperature probe. The temp probe is 1/8th NPT. What will I need to adapt it to the fitting?

I also have the factory auxillary transmission cooler installed. The steel line from the transmission changes to rubber hose just after the OD sensor. Would it be acceptible to put one of those barbed Tees in there and mount the sensor while leaving the OD sensor in place? Will this extra fitting create restrictions to the flow?

That's what I did, 10,000 miles ago. I teed into 1/2" ID oil resistant hose which comes from the 1/2" piping towards the front of the tranny. Normally, this line( high pressure ATF) would head towards the oil coolers and then come back towards the piping at the rear of the tranny (low pressure ATF), but I routed an auxiliary tranny cooler with fan to act as a 1st stage cooler before the ATF heads towards the front end (to stage 2 of cooling). It is the hottest point for the ATF as it leaves the tranny, and this is where I pull my temps from. Get a 3/4" to 3/4" to 1/2" tee, adapt to 1/2" hose barb at the two 3/4" ends, and bushing down to 1/8" FPT at the 1/2" portion of the tee. By going to a larger tee there will be no chances of tapering down and back up on the pressure side of the tranny. Tip: use oil resistant hose and use the pushlok type fittings made by Parker. Pricey, but you will omly do this one time and for the cost of replacing a tranny, it is worth it. BTW, w/ this set up, I am never over 180 degrees in CA summer weather.
