Transmission park problems. please help!

my brother has an 03 dodge 3500 dually with a auto transmission. the other day the linkage to the shifter broke and he couldnt get it out of park. so he had it towed. when the tow truck hooked up to it he just drug it up on the truck. the wheels were sliding and then there was a loud pop and they started spinning free. he had the linkage fixed and now it is hung in park. so my question is: is it possible that the wrecker tore something up on the transmission when he drug the truck? sorry for the bad desciption i have not acctually seen the truck, my brother just explained it over the phone and he doesnt know anything about mechanics. i feel like the wrecker company should have to fix the problem if they acctually broke something. i dont know much about transmissions so i was hoping some of you could help.
Thanks,
Joe

Sounds like they broke off the parking paw in the transmission. More than likely time to tear the tranny out. You can get to the parking paw with the valve body out but if a piece is stuck up in there which it sounds like, not good.

And if some of the parking paw is stuck in there you could just remove the OD housing and get it out of it.

More than likely the towing company will claim the "trans was already broke that's why they were there." But I know what you mean, a simple tow and fix has turned into a tow, expensive fix, and a fight with the tow company.
