Transmission Failure

35,135 miles. It started to hunt 1-2 gears at light throttle. And the trans temp never got much above 100*, even towing across KS last month. The pressure transducer and the temp sensor are all one module. So I took it in to replace that module.

They called back the same day, and told me there was a lot of metal and junk in the pan. They'de have to tear it down and see what's going on. I told them I needed the truck back by Friday; we're racing this week end.

I picked the truck up this morning. Basically, they overhauled most of the transmission. Not a complete rebuild, though. We'll see what happens when I head down the highway in an hour.

Solenoid, transducer, gaskets, 14qts of fluid, pump package, converter, Band Kick, Band Rev, O/H kit.

Total cost -- $0.

Good service, good work, and no hassle about the warrenty. They could have just put in the new module and sent me on my way. They didn't. They took care of it. That's why I keep going back there.

Colorado Springs Dodge. I'v purchased two trucks from them, and recieved excellent service when I needed it. I wouldn't hesitate to go back again.

Well, everything went just fine. Better than fine, actually.

We were racing at Pikes Peak IR this week end, which is only 25 miles down the highway. I took the car down on Friday for tech and parked it in the garage. Left the trailer in the lot. Drove back and forth Sat and Sun. Towed the car home Sunday afternoon. Not a real tough test, as it wasn't a long distance or a difficult pull. All down hill to the track, and uphill on the way back.

Transmission performed flawlessly. Noticably better than it had before. I tried it in all modes at one time or another. Couldn't make it misbehave. Never got much above 100* or so, either.

Not bad for free. Kudos to CS Dodge service Department.

Nice to hear there are still some dealers that believe in customer service.

the metal shavings are prolly from the clutches and getting on it hard with the smarty. with no added pressure the clutches will slip until boom goes the dynamite. or the tc slipping one of the two from not enough fluid being applied thus dirty fluid.

I use the Smarty Jr. to turn the power down for better economy. Most of the time I run it on 1, PoD at 60. When I tow, I'm only hauling about 5K#, and then the smarty is at 2, PoD 99. I've never even tried it on 3. I'v never even managed to get the trans temp above 120*.

I want this truck to last, and not leave me stranded somewhere. So I'm trying to be easy on it. Take care of your equipment, and it will take care of you. I hope.
