Transfer case leak

I am seriously ticked off. Was noticing a small drip from the rear of the transfer case. Checked and it was low, ended up adding 3/4 of a quart. The reason I am ticked is that I have already replaced 2 tranfer cases for running out of fluid. This time I think the culprit for my problem is either a bad yoke or the seal has gone bad in the yoke.

How many quarts are in the T-case? Has any one else had this problem?

THanks,

I believe there is only 2 qt.s in the transfer case. I had a leak on mine and I replaced the seal on the extension housing and guess what it still leaked I put it up on blocks and washed the area with a pressure washer and with the driveshaft turning for over an hour on blocks I could not see where it was leaking. I gave up for the moment and drove the truck for a day or two and then when I went under it to check for leaks I found that there is a welch plug (like a drive in frost plug in the center of the yoke) that is where it was leaking. I replaced the plug and the leak stopped. Shortly after I installed my Gearvendors and I had to have the driveshaft shortend and a different yoke was installed.

My yoke leaked as well. I originally thought it was the output seal. Like Jim said, the mechanic described it like a freeze plug that is in the center of it. Unfortunately mine was almost empty by the time it was repaired and the damage was already done. Makes some bad noises in 4. This was almost a year ago and it's still going strong in two-wheel. Hope this wasn't the reason your first two had to be replaced.

If you don't mind me asking, what did it cost you to replace those tranfer cases?

I put about 2.5 quarts in my 03 with the electronic shift transfer case.
