Transfer Case
I've been having some loud noises coming from my Transfer Case when I put the truck in 4x4. I took it to the shop and had the guy pull it apart. The chains pretty warn and he said it smelled like burnt oil. He suggest replacing the whole x-case which is gonna cost me around $1600. If he just replaced the chain and none of the other parts in there do I run a good chance of having more problems in the future? If I rarely use the 4x4 will it wear anyways due to the fact that the front drive shaft always turns, or is it only affected when I engage the 4 wheel drive. Any help would be appreciated.
