Mine are aluminum with machined face and clearcoat. No chrome.
And if MuleMan was referring to removing them from the hub, then yes they can be difficult. Aluminum and steel will galvanically corrode into each other and bind together, particularly if you add a little water. Happens to all aluminum wheels attached to a steel hub, or anywhere else aluminum and steel touch.
I went through a couple of 6 foot long 4x4 posts before I got all mine off the first time. Evidently the previous owner for 2 years in Dallas never rotated the tires.
Remove wheel, wire brush the corrosion off both wheel hub face and the axle hub face, smear a little antiseize compound on the wheel contact surface including the hub ring and, while you're at it, the lug bolt threads. Reinstall.

I asked my dealer about this . In the brochure it states that Laramie j for 07 has chromed aluminum wheels. Mine came with the chrome clad steel wheels. The explanation I got was the trucks made in 06 still used the steel wheels and truck made on and after Jan 1 07 have the aluminum wheels and the 6.7 CDT. I have the 5.9
My 06 has ALLOY wheels with the chrome cladding referenced above. If you do a search on this forum you will see some folks have removed the cladding and powder coated their wheels. There are pics of my stock wheels in my gallery; the snow shot.

Polished alloys were available on the slt, not the laramie. Some folks traded out though. My dealer would not.

The Wheels that came with my 03 Laramie are aluminum, with machined and polished faces, but the rounded curves in the holes have a powder coated metalic gray finish.
I bought some 06 Laramie wheels and tires and they have the glued on skin. They look like they are somewhere between highly polished mags and chrome... I know there are also steel wheels with chrome skin glued on, but these are aluminum under the skin...
It isn't easy to tell unless you pop the center cover off.

"03" were polished Aluminum....about "06" they became cromeclad on the Laramie. Same wheel just a thin chromed metal cover over the Aluminum wheels. Been there done that asked 10 times to get it straight. Chrome clad is NOT chrome plated!

They look like chrome caps to me.
