trans shift problems

could not locate the screw to adjust it. any more insight? or where i could find a diagram?

valve body bypass was the problem on mine had the valve body replaced have driven over 600 miles with no problems.

adjusted the front band today, didnt know how to act when it shifted correctly! but, its adjusted to its max (locking nut is completely on), so i guess it will have to be replaced soon... gonna start learning that procedure now i reckon

by the way, approximately how much of the adjustment screw is visible when it has a new band that is correctly adjusted?

Usually 3-4 threads showing when its good, when it goes down to 2 threads showing its time for a replacement or at least a hard look at it.

The flex bands are flimsy and can bend the strut attachment point. There is not much wear to the linings so its probably shot.

I am new to diesel, and seem to be having a similar shifting problem. I have an 06 CTD 2500... I am an "old man" style driver and dont just jam the hammer down to accelerate. I tend to slowly accelerate, and notice that if I accelerate at 1200-1400 RPM, the trans hangs in first, then "rocks" or "jerks" back and forth between first and second till it settles into second gear and then continues to accelerate. If i just jam it down and accelerate at 1800 to 2000 RPMs, it rips thru all the gears just fine. Again, I am a rookie and maybe this is just the way diesel engines run, but it just really annoys me. It does fine out on highway and pretty much everywhere else, but since I am in military and drive on base/post a lot (where speed limit is 25 mph) its this slow acceleration that is bothering me. Any help? thx

Yep, at low throttle opening the gov pressure sensor and solenoid do not set correctly and you get shuttle shift. You can try replacing the solenoid and sensor but it usually comes back. A shift enhancer will help a lot if everything is good as will a special VB build to address the issue.

Its the nature of the electronics that this happens and the fact there is no adjustability any more with the TTVA motor replacing the TV cable.

No 6 oh no: Thx for the info. There is a diesel outfitter near where I live and he advertises what appears to be a good deal on the bully dog mod package...what are your thoughts on the bully dog and does that chip set up include the shift enhancer you mention above or is that a seperate mod...thx again

Personally, I think the BullyDog stuff is junk and would NOT spend money on it. Some people like it and have good luck, not my best experience. It won't have anything for the trans and will probably hasten its demise. The best shift enhancer box is going to be DTT's offering. Three settings and tunable for your application.

However, the shift enhancer is best used with a power mod that reduces the TQ management. Don't try to use it as a fix for shuttle shift and crappy shifting. It will just cover up problems that will eventually come back to haunt you.

BEFORE you add your choice of power I would fix the trans. At least a shift kit, aftermarket gov solenoid, and the need billet servos and seals. If you don't it kinda gets pushed back then the power starts the destruction.
