Trans just went dead... like in neutral...?

Driving today and first had a wierd hard vibration... almost thought I lost a tire. Continued to drive and it went away then it was just like she went into neutral. Engine revs fine. Put it in park. Back into drive and nothing. Reverse nothing. Then I was able to go but only very slow... finally pulled off the road. Fluid looks fine. Trans temp at the time didn't get over 170 degrees. Everything has been fine up until this happened. Do you think it's something electronic in trans like a solenoid?

I did a search and found this. It sounds like an electrical problem. I use to do my own wrenching on stuff but that was a long time ago. I am so out of touch on this that I am almost as bad as my wife on transmission knowlege . This may help, at least it will give you a bump. https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...hlight=neutral

I would suspect you brokethe input shaft. Even without electronics hooked up, you get rev and forward just not od

Can't be input shaft. I was able to drive normal a few times. It's intermitant. I hope it is electrical but the trans guy I talked to says it sounds more like the pump is slipping or something like that. Hope that isn't the case cause that is big money. Could take out converter.

I changed fluid and filter about 30,000 miles ago. Ya know... the night I parked my truck before this happened I checked my oil and my trans fluid level. When I pulled my trans dipstick out to check it I accidentily hit the positive of the battery causing a pretty good spark. The next morning is when this happened... I wonder if the two are connected.

Any codes associated with the problem? Blown fuse(s)?

Probably won't work but you could reset the computer by disconnecting the battery.

Well it's going into a trans shop in the morning and we'll find out what really is the problem and I'll post back. The trans guy I spoke with was pretty sure it couldn't/wouldn't be just an electrical problem because even with all electronics disconnected from trans it supposedly would still move vehicle.

It was intermit in my truck when my transfer case went out on me while I tried to whimper my way to the tranny shop in Texas while I was on the road once. First it was a vibration that shook the entire truck and even opened up the glove box it was shaking so bad. then it stopped an the truck ran fine. then it start slipping like it was the tranny and blah blah blah. but this might not be the case with his.
goodluck. keep us posted

That sounds very familiar... especially the vibration... but I was only going around 20mph when it hit. Will keep posted...
