tranny pan drop & filter change
tranny pan drop & filter change
I'm about to drop the tranny pan & change the filter & fluid. Got my filter and gasket from Genos--do I need to put any sealant on the gasket or just install and refill?
Thanks
Thanks
I just did a filter change on mine. no dont put any sealant on the pan or gasket. but make sure you clean off the mating surface of the trans pan and make sure theres no sealant gunk on it like there was mine, bc the previous owner thot that would stop the leak instead of replacing the gasket. A good trick to keep the gasket from sliding while your tryin to line up the bolt holes is to place the gasket on the pan then put a bolt in each corner of the pan and threw the gasket, that will hold them in while you line everything up. The filter is held in with torx head screws, in case you didnt know.
the stocker gasket is a re-usable rubber that does not require sealant. Refill on mine with the stock pan was about 7 liters (the service manual said 3.8). Torque on the bolts is 13 lb/ft.
