I do notice an occassional slip when I get into the throttle pretty heavy from a roll, but the main symptom is a bad shudder that stops when I immediately let off the throttle after a good pedal push. The truck has 36k on it already. Tranny warranty is now gone, so what can I be proactive in aiding the performance of the tranny/tq converter? Should I change fluids or something? an additive help?

you could get a valvebody and stick in there that will increase lock up holding power till you could gather the money for a full blown tranny

 

The first thing I noticed when my torque converter was going was a shudder when the torque converter locked up. that is when there is a mechanical coupling of power, other than lock-up it is Hydrolic coupling, and could be in the transmission.

 

How much am I looking for a good one?
