Traded my truck

Traded in my 01 CTD for a 05 model last week. Now the dealer is calling me complaining that they will have to put a fuel pump on it. They said its gonna cost $2000. They are aggravating the snot out of me like I should pay for it. Is there a lemon law that they can use to get me to shell out for the new pump?

Pay back's a you know what!
I think that is funny, now they know how we feel about the junk VP44.
Tell them it's theirs now and they can do what they want with it. Better yet tell them to get if fixed under warranty.
I don't think they have any recourse towards you.

Maybe you should tell them to call the 1-800 number, like they tell the customer and see how far they get.

Tell them to pound salt up you know what. PAY BACK TIME!

That has to be the funniest thing I have ever heard. The dealer is complaining to you about the trade he took. I think if they called me I would not be able to stop laughing after I told them to bite me, or do as the others have said fix it or call the 1-800 line.

My dad had something like this happen when he traded in an '01 sport CTD that wouldn't stay on the road for an '01 long bed about 3 weeks later the dealer called and told my dad that they paid him to much for the short box and wanted him to do something about it my dad laughed in his face it was so funny we still laugh about it like when i told him about this thread.

To answer this question.....

No, unless you gave them a written warranty statement when you made the deal! Tell them if they don't stop calling you that you'll have your legal counsel contact them. That should stop them dead in their tracks.

If this happend to me I would tell them where to go. I always got the feeling that car salesmen think people are stupid, and will take advantage of you every chance they get. There are people out there who would agree to pay for that pump just as there are people who pay full sticker price for a vehicle.

Very, very funny - the shoe is on the other foot. You had NO idea that the pump was going to go out, and even if you did, they could have had a mechanic check out the truck before thy took it in on trade (oops, that the line they would have used). Also, they get their parts wholesale, so their costs are not as high as they are claiming (again, they would hav charged you that amount) Sounds to me like they are up to their windshield wipers in some of their own stuff and STILL trying to do you. I too believe they think WE are stupid and can be manipulated and suckered into all kinds of stuff because they believe we are that gullable. Ask yourself, what would they be saying to you at this moment if the situation were reversed. Go from there.

Two words..... Caveat Emptor .... it works both ways.

I just traded my 99' last month on my 07', the dealership sold my truck to a guy that runs a car detailing business (washes the cars on thier lots). Four days after they sold it to him, he was pulling his pressure washing rig around with included a water tank and from what my salesmen told me "twised the tranny right out of the truck"
They had to put a tranny in it for the guy. There went any profit they might have made on that deal. I was actually very surprised to hear of the failure, they guy must have been a young kid and he had to be playing with truck with the Edge box set 5X5
