That statement is totally false. EB's work fine with autos if the TV and line pressure is high enough to provide the holding power. Works the same way under coast as it does under power.

Given the transmission is totally trashed now the EB is simply not going to work correctly. The total weight he is pulling is not enough to cause issues if the transmission is built correctly. It is just a bad trans from the start.

The EB works off exhaust flow so the lower the rpm's are when it engages the less force you feel. Dropping into 2nd dramatically changes the ratios and kicks the rpm's up. Engage the EB at 80 mph from OD to drive and you will get the same feel. If it doesn't, something bad wrong in transmission.

Thanks No-

A very good explanation. Kinda like the srvice guy said, except he grunted more.....

I guess the real question is wether or not to let it get worse. I am leaning towards let it get worse. They said (Dealer) they at that point would just replace the tranny vs just an new TQ. I wonder if just a new TQ would do the trick?

Do you guys think a TransGo kit, (boosts line pressue and lowers shift points) would be the next best (and cheapest) upgrade to a poorly designed TQ?

I had this added to my 98 with 47RE and Man, it definetly helped ALOT.

What have you guys heard?

my freightliner (Yellowbird) has a 550 and with that truck loaded you NEVER need to touch the FOOT-brake b-cause the Jake worked that well.

the TC isn't made to hold that strongly

YOUR 55O HAS AN ENGINE BRAKE. THATS A WHOLE LOT DIFFERENT THAN AN EXHAUST BRAKE....THEY WORK NOT A BIT ALIKE. THATS ORANGES TO APPLES.

I WOULD SUSPECT YOUVE GOT SOME T.C. DRAINBACK ISSUES. ID BE CURIOUS TO SEE LINE PRESSURES IN LOCKUP. I LIKE TO SEE AT LEAST 120#
AND THE FACT OF LARGER TIRES DOESNT VOID WARRANTY BUD. WERE A LARGE DC TRUCK DEALERSHIP. I INSTALL MORE BANKS/BULLYDOG/AND EDGE COMPONENTS HERE THAN ANYONE IN UPSTATE NY.. I HAVE NEVER BRANDISHED OR DECLINED WARRANTY REPAIR DUE TO THE AFTERMARKET INSTALL OF ANY FOREMENTIONED MODULES., UNLESS THEY WERE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE OF A WARRANTED FACTORY PART.

THE NOTION THAT DEALERS DONT LIKE WARRANTY WORK IS A 1960'S NOTION. TIMES HAVE CHANGED. ITS GAURANTEED MONEY, PARTS AT 40% OVER COST, AT FLAT RATE WARRANTY TIMES. THE OLD DAYS WHEN DEALERS DID WARRANTY WORK AT CLOCK TIME AND 10% OVER IN PARTS ENDED 20 YEARS AGO.. I KNOW, LOL, I WAS THERE. SO THE OLD FALICY'S YOUR DAD TOLD YOU WHEN YOU WERE GROWING UP HAS CHANGED. JUST KEEP THAT IN MIND. IF YOU EVER NEED HELP HANDLING A WARRANTY ISSUE, FEEL FREE TO PM ME, AND ILL TRY TO HELP YOU IF I CAN.

Now that my ears are ringing...

That's all fine and dandy, until DC denies a major repair due to the mods you installed. They have the final say on what major repairs get done under warranty, not the dealer.

This Isnt True Either.
Dealers Have 3 Authorization Levels. The Top 3 Can Authorize Thier Own Repairs. I Hold The Highest Level "sda" (super Dealer Authorization). I Have No Limits Of Aurization. As Long As Guidlines Are Met, The Claim Gets Paid By Dc Within 30 Seconds Of Submission.

You All Have Some Funny Ideas On How Dc And Warranty Work. There Are A Lot Of Myths Out There. Some Were True 25 Years Ago. Most I Read On This Forum Are Just That, Myths Handed Down By Our Previous Generations.

Dc Never Sees The Vehicle Bud. They Only Know What We Tell Them Electronically.

So I guess if the dealer is willing to lie to DC about the problem then it's possible. How long do you think a dealer operating like that will be around?

With the weight he is towing the stock TC SHOULD be adequate given it is working right and a little driving sense. As far as being adequate at max GCVW, I will agree with you hands down the stock TC is way inadequate.

Nope, trans is junk until it has been torn completely down and thouroughly washed and cleaned and the bad parts tossed. That will take a competent transmission repair facility with the correct equipment and knowledge. If the TC is slipping and grinding it is shedding clutch material and quite possibly metal shavings. If it were mine I would demand they replace the WHOLE transmission ASAP before it quits completely. When it does go TU you can just bet it will at a very inopportune time.

i would say that when you can run empty, on a supposedly built transmission with HD torque converter, and it slips under acceleration even on city roads you have something desperatly wronge.
HMMM, 1,000 miles and two months on this tranny and its junk again...... CAN YOU SAY WARANTEE Time!!!!
