tourque converter with rebuilt trans?

Hey guys, im having a problem with my 06 dodge 3500, about 7 months ago i pulled up to a light and the truck still wanted to go, it seemed like the tourque converter was staying engauged, it was winter up here so i washed under the truck and it went away about a day or two later... now its back, its staying loaded sometimes when i stop, if i put in N the revs pop up and return to normal, then i can put it in gear and go. sometimes its very slow from a stop , like the tourqye converter is slipping, but i dont have burnt fluid and its not always doing the same thing, sometimes it drives great, theres only 27,000KM on the tranny since a rebuilt and the TQ convert was replaced, all under dodge but now im out of warrenty on the replacement. any ideas? could it be a relay or governor solenoid for the trans? im starting to think its a electrical issue not the trans?? thanks

wouldnt it always be doing the same thing not locking up one time and slow start the next? also wouldnt the fluid be burnt? i hope it isnt the converter with that little km on it..

No, there is nothing slipping to burn the fluid.

The problem is a sprag clutch in the TC that is supposed to unlock at lower rpms to give the TC a "stall". When it doesn't unlock correctly the truck wants to pull thru the brakes, engine revs, you can get dead pedal for a bit, and it is slow starting from a stop like there is no power. It essentially has no stall so the engine cannot rev to make power immediately.

The sprag will start to go bad and stick, then, when you shock it by in and out of gear or something else, it will release and work right. It may intermit like this for months or lock solid the next time you drive the truck.

it produces revs right away but yes it feels like dead pedal. i was hoping that there could be something else.. your pretty sure thats the cause? i dont want to pay to have it checked out as i was planning on putting a build one in there, just not right now

Pretty common symptoms and failure. Can't be 100% sure with an internet diagnosis, but, IMO your looking at a TC issue that can get worse if it starts shedding metal into the trans.
