Torque Converter lockup

My torque converter doesn't lock up until at least 50mph. Is there any way to get the converter to lock up sooner? I would think that for the best fuel mileage, an earlier lockup would be best.

Some guys use a toggle switch and over ride the lock up. This can be a problem if you forget to turn it off when stopping. I use an ATS Co-pilot control. It allows me to lock the converter at the speed I want and maintain lockup for compression braking while coming down hills with my camper and boat at tow. It unlocks prior to stopping if I forget. Again some guys don't like the ATS Co-pilot, but it works for me. I would not recommend adding a switch or a Co-pilot with a stock transmission if you want it to last.
I had mine upgraded with Triple-lock Sun Coast torque converter, Sun Coast valve body and flexplate when they rebuild the transmission. The ATS Co-pilot works great with the Sun Coast stuff.

Mine is locking at about 57, is there something to adjust on the valvebody to make it lock sooner.

Not sure if the tow/haul is the same on your 04 but on my 06 it will lock at 25 mph in 3rd when in tow/haul mode. It stays locked in longer in 4th once it up shifts.

I see you already have an HTS valve body, if you install an aftermarket TC to go along with VB, then you won't be worrying about lockup anymore.

Mine locks up ~50 and unlocks if you get down under 45 or put your foot in the pedal.

Mine dosn't lock when it should, but I'm using tow/haul in town now when I start the truck and it's keeping the temps down around 130. I don't know much about the TC switch, though it might be a fix for my issue.

Yep, trying to scrape up enough money to do just that.

with my TC switch, if i'm not getting on it, it seems to bog down too much to be effective for a fuel saving device... when I lock mine at everyday speed, it will drop my RPMS by 500 and bog

It can say it but that's not Don't know why Chrysler started that norminclature in 04 unless it was wishful thinking that wasn't made to happen until 05 model year..Tow/haul on a 04.All it does is lockout 4th gear(overdrive} 05s it changes the valve action in the valve body and when lockup occurs. That's tow/haul. 06 up does both features.

I have read forever that 04 is o/d lockout only but when my tow/haul button is on, it is much quicker, hardly any slip. I have a TC lockup switch on mine and although it does shift hard, it is not much different than it is when the tow/haul button is on. the tow/haul button definately does more than just lockout o/d on my 04.
