tires balanced and rotated
Hover over the guy and insist the readout says "zero" as he adds, adjusts weights.
My truck experienced dw after a botched rotation and rebalance(one tire was 4 ozs. off). I returned to the tire dealer and different guys rebalanced them. End of problem. This was no error,it was sabotage. I think it was the guy's last day.

"No! It also occurs on trucks that are factory stock."
Doc,
Is there a particular year when the wobble started ?
I've replaced ball joints and axle joints on mine and I noticed my tie rods and front end parts etc are almost twice the size of the newer stuff. Is it because of the chintzy parts on the newer ones maybe ?

The "Death Wobble" as it is referred to, started to occur in the second generation trucks.
There are a multitude of components that can cause this anomaly and I suspect that product quality may be a contributor. For example, I find that ball joints are not something to go the cheap route on. I no longer use the brand found in most typical parts stores and have since gone with Carli.
I have attached a link that will provide you with a great deal of insight into the death wobble issue. This is not something that can be easily diagnosed, because the fix for one truck may be totally different than another.
