Tire opinion
My original bfg's are about done at 53k. Not bad, really pretty good.
Now I'm tire shopping and would like to go to 285-70-17's.
What do ya'll think of BFG-AT and or Nitto Terra Grapplers? How do you guys like them , how many milles do you have on them, do they make a lot noise on the road, do the "drive" as good as your stock tires did and where and how much did you pay for them?
Thanks

Of those two choices,I'd get the Nittos. The BFGs are D rated and the Nittos are E rated. I know D rated 285s will cary as much as the E rated stockers, but I've had D rated tires on a HD truck and won't do it again.
In my experience,D rated tires don't handle as well or wear as well as E rated tires do.
I'm sure the next 20 guys will say D rated tires are fine. Maybe for them, not for me.

I am in the same boat, need new tires. I ran BFG ATs on all my gassers with good mileage and performance, but I too do not want to put a D rated tire my truck. I am leaning towards Toyo ATs in 285/75R17. They are load E rated and should help fill the wheelwell. I have been reading reviews, and they are mixed. Some say they are great, others say they stink.
i am running coopers on both of my trucks....37/12.50/17's on my pick up...thos are the STT's and 245/80/17's on my C&C and i love both of them...get youin and out of anywhere you want to be....but you may also want to look into the pro-comp AT's or they have Extreme AT's that wear well also

I went with BFG All Terrains and really like them..
I stayed with stock size, so I did not have to install a leveling kit or different rims... Also I stayed with the E-rated tires...
Biggest thing I like is they are much better in the snow than the stock tires...

I have the BFG 285's D rated. So far they have been really good. No wobble and no uneven wear. They not as stiff as the stock 265's, but they are good.
If I were to do a lot of heavy towing, I'd stick with the 'E", and in fact for my next set I'll probably go back to an 'E' rated tire, but in a 285 size. Price for my BFGs - Free. If you ask I'll tell you, but it's off topic.

I just replaced the stock Michelin tires with some BFG ATs in the 285 flavor. Truck is riding and driving 10 times better. I'm happy with my decision. I have to admit, they do tend to pick up every little pebble on the road though. Snow, wet, and even dry traction is much better than the stock rubber. To me, the tires are worth suffering the "sand blasting" effect.
Toyo AT's if you want an E rated tire and BFG AT KO's if you don't care. I'm running the BFG AT KO's and am about 1/3rd into the tread with 20K miles and tow a 12.5K lb toyhauler about 5 times a year.
