Tire cost for dually

Hi there I am researching the concept of buying a new dually. One thing I noticed was the price of the E rated tires are quite expensive 165 or more each and that is only Goodyear. Seems they are the only one that makes the size Dodge uses. MY question is has anyone found a less expensive route for tire replacment?

The tires on my previous DRW Dodge gave me 68K miles before it was necessary to get new ones. I would think that by the time that you get the tires worn out there will be many 17 inch tires available for you to choose from.

Cheers

General is now the OE tire for our trucks, so now we have a whopping TWO options. Don't know about price though, be a while before i get there.

As time goes on I think we will see more choices in tires. Until there is a market I don't blame the manufacturers for holding back. Now that tires are starting to wear out on these trucks they are taking notice. FWIW

My truck came with Michellins, TERRIBLE tires though!!! provide no traction at all on any surface other than bone dry pavement. Little bit of rain or snow and this monster fish tails at the slightest touch of the throttle. SCARY STUFF IN A 4 TON TRUCK THATS PROBABLY +20' LONG! (a little fun though )

Overpriced tires that are hard to find, and not worth searching for... What a GREAT excuse to step up to 19" wheels!!!

Michillens are what the dealer told me the standard tires were, I opted for the raised white letter tires and got Goodyears, Probably the worst tire I've ever seen for snow

Just bought the Cooper ST's, $198/ea. Very agressive and they roll smooth.

Mine came with Goodyears, but received warranty brochures (with the owner's manual) for Goodyear, Michelin, General and BFG. Would that indicate BFG is a possibility?

MICHELIN TIRES

You are100% wrong freind. Michelin does NOT make the 17" or 19" tires for our 03-04 HD Dodge Ram Dually's yet. I wish they did as I have an extreme dislike for Good Year, but I like Michelin and have had excellent service and long wear with them. As for people complaining about getting stuct on slick roads, most tire manufactures including Michelin make more aggressive tread designs for drivers that want them.

I saw on another post where another company, (Other than Rickson's- I have the CRS desease, forgot thier name) is to have available soon the 19-1/2" wheels for our Dodge dually trucks. I will be getting a set and put the 19-1/2" Michelin's on my 03 if they are not available by the time I need new tires, as I will not waste money on the Good For nothing Good Years.

Hey Dude, I know it is not intentional but we need to use care so as not to mislead anyone that may go to a lot of trouble looking for Michelin tires in a size that they don't make yet.

Good luck with your Ram dually.

thank you.

Thank you everyone for the help. Guess I can live with the price of the tires since they tend to last 65,000 miles.
