Time for tires
I have about 146,000 miles and it's time to replace these tires. I'm down to the wear marks and am planning a trip and don't want to risk having a problem. I liked the OEM Michelin's (78,000 miles) and the Pirelli's Scorpions lasted almost 70,000 miles (only paid $250 for all 4) so I got good wear from them also.
I'm looking at buying some Michelin 265/70 17 LTX A/S. These were the OEM type, right? (can't remember) Any negatives that I should be aware of???
Thanks.

If you really liked the OEM Michelins there is not a thing wrong with them, However, I think the 3rd gens look better with a little bit bigger tire on them to fill in the wheelwell. I recommend a 285/70/17 if youve got a 4X4. but if youve got a 4X2 then Im not sure if that would be too big. If you decide on the 285/70/17, Toyo makes an All Terrain that is E rated. Good Tire, have them on my 04.5.
We put a 285/75/17 on my Dad's 2wd and they fit perfectly and he didn't notice any milage loss or gain. THese tires are almost 34" tall too!! I'd go for the 285/70s personally to keep it closer, they still look darn good as others have posted.

Thanks AtotheC93 & Megacabdad. I'll take those measurements and see how they look. I'll probably go with 285's and now the question will be which ones. I don't see where Michelin makes a 285/70/17 E-rated tire. I'm leaning toward the Toyo Open Country's.
