Time to pay for all the playing I've done....

Well my truck doesn't really play as much as pull, but the front tires were wearing in a bad chop.

I figured it was because the stupid computer keeps throwing my truck in 4wd while cruising at 70.

The tires were getting to changing time anyway, but I was going to rotate them for a few thousand more miles.

Jacking the truck up showed me the tie rod ends were worn and wobbling.

A little more looking showed me the replacement lifetime warranty guaranteed Precision 464 U-joints were shot.

And upon further review, the upper ball joints are both bad.

Looking at about $2,000 in repairs and then new tires = $3K.

I have no time to do the work myself, so I'll have to take it in.

Ouch! Oh well, the way I look at maintenance costs is that it's cheaper than buying a new truck and the Cummins just keeps on running!

No engine issues at all. I haven't even adjusted the valves yet.

It's time for the valve adjustment. It's not bad. It was due at 150,000 miles.

I feel your paint I was ready for new tires so took them in. Also got myself a southbend clutch. Went to put that in and tried the main seal, but screwed up the housing. So it got a second new rear main seal, main seal housing, cam seal, clutch. While the truck is on the stands while I do the clutch, I see a little puddle of something coming from the rear tire. Find a bad brake caliper. So tonight, get the new caliper installed and while bleeding the brakes, I blow up a front brake hose
Figured since I was tossing nickels and dimes, tossed in a new fuel filter on the air dog.

Looks like ball joints are almost ready again. Can't complain since these have 100k on them. But also need a new trac bar and a coupe tie rod ends too.

I seriously thought about trading the truck in, but I just can't do it. I figure the nickel and dimes will slow down soon and by then most all maintnence items will have been replaced. And I won't have to flip the coin for a new truck, and the emissions that comes with it, and the tags.

Get your stuff fixed and it'll drive like new. Hard to choke down that kind of scratch, but you won't retreat it once its done.
