OK guy i have a quetion for you. Getting time to order new oil filters and
im wondering which is the better. I know i probably can't go wrong with either. Just throwing it out for discussion.

FLEETGUARD - OIL FILTER ('03-'07 DODGE) STRATAPORE LF16035

 

I personally use the Fleetguard you have listed, but FWIW, the amsoil may be just as good. I don't really know other than the old "cut up the filters and examine them for structural quality" post I read on the oil guy site, and amsoil was not one of them, but amsoil is known for their quality products. I would have to say honestly you could use them both and never tell a bit of difference. They are both at the top of the food chain where those filters are concerned-- Fram at the bottom and all else in between somewhere. What I did read that was quantified by some test (please don't ask me where, i don't remember that), that the synthetic media used in the stratopore and amsoil is more effective than paper media. I would just choose whichever is cheaper and easier to get for you.

 

Thats kinda what i was thinking. Amsoil is proud of theirs $22.

 

Being that the Fleetguard filters are Cummins approved and you can easily order them from Geno's Garage, I wouldn't consider using anything else on my trucks. I just order a bunch of fuel and oil filters at a time to save on shipping costs.

Not to mention that the Mopar filters are Fleetguard filters just painted a different color and in a different box. They both come off the same line just differnt paint and box. I personally run Fleetguard.

 

Or Fleetguard at $10.95 at Geno's.

I've only used fleetguard for the 21k I have on the trucks. If you NEVER have a warranty issue on the motor, you could run whatever oil filter you want. However, I am wanting my truck to last more than 10 years, so I run the best filter I can find that will also not impact warranty....Fleetguard.

Sorry for the dissertation...I think you are heading towards fleetguard anyway.

Thanks for the input guys. I get all my filters from Geno's as well. Like i said i was just throwing this out there. I also posted it before i found the price for the EAO80. Had i found that first, I prob would not have posted. The EA filter does speify a 15k drain without bypass.

 

Anything wrong with Napa Gold?

 

Napas are usually wix and are pretty good. Fram, Penzoil, quaker state are the ones to advoid. And some mopar filters are relabeled Frams.

Napa Gold (Wix) 7620 or 7620XE oil filter. The XE is the higher efficiency filter similar to the fleetguard stratapore. Wix also makes a 3585XE fuel filter that is 7 microns.

 

I am using the Fleetguard from Genos but also have the bypass oil filter from Amsoil. I guess you could say - best of both worlds.

I use the Mobil One oil filter. They are very good filters.

 

Good...Napa is all I have used in the truck since new....With the discount I get at Napa I cant pass up the price.
