Ticking sound finally fixed!
Ticking sound finally fixed!
While me and the Cummins tech were spending the morning doing a few things to my truck, he had the engine started and was puzzled by the tick tick tick sound at idle. I told him that it hade been doing that for some time and that everything seemed normal otherwise. I wasn't worried about it, but it really seemed to get his attention.
He looked around and found the problem. It was one of the blue plastic fuel line clamps on top of the engine towards the back, right beside the valve cover. He tightened it up and sure enough, no more ticking! He said that this is a common problem.
I know I have read of many people with this similar ticking sound and have not been able to figure out what it is. I figured I would pass this along because it's easy to check and free to fix. Good luck
