thinking about a 6.7L need some input????

well the G/F informed me a couple days ago that she's wanting to get a mustang????? so that means I'm gonna have the 01' or the 97' pretty much sitting around alot of the time, the reason for the 2 was that I use the 97' reg. cab with the flatbed for my job, building fence sometimes gets me in some bad places with a trailer behind me, & the flatbed is nice to haul bundles of posts & rolls of wire, now onto the 01' aside from a daily driver for my g/f,we also like to hook up the 4-horse featherlite on the weekends & go to who knows where to rope & ride our horses, & the comfort & room in the quad cab is really nice on the long trips, so now I'm thinking of selling the 97' & the 01' & getting a new 07' quad cab, cab & chassis, then I can put a steel flatbed on & use it to work out of, but still have a nice comfortable truck to ride on the weekends, I'm waiting on a couple quotes on the following..... 07' quad cab cab & chassis, mineral gray metallic paint, with the Laramie trim, & a 6 spd. manual tranny, with factory exhaust brake, & a few other goodies here & there, but that's the basic truck, now I was wondering if anyone had any good updates on the 6.7L engine or the Getrag tranny, or anything else I may want/need to know about the new trucks before I bite the bullet & buy one???? thanks a bunch, Dusty

LUKE S is a dealer and has posted alot about the new truck. Do a search on his posts or 6.7 Also in one of his posts about the 6.7 chas/cab he said that after driving the new 6 speed auto in that truck he was very impressed with it and he has been a standard trans guy forever. just one other thing to kick around before you buy one.. good luck

I think it will be a good engine but the availability of the Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel might be hard to get for awhile.

I have an 07 cab and chassis with the 6.7 engine, Aisin 6-speed automatic transmission and e-brake. Single cab 167" wheelbase with a 11.5' bed. I put it into service 11-21-06, it now has over 10,700 miles on it. The engine runs strong, is quiter than the 5.9 with less vibration. What else do you want to know?

I had a 03 3500 for 345,000+ miles. It was a six speed standard shift. It is hard to make a comparison between that truck and the one I have because of the Aisin transmission. The engine pulls good, of course it is pure stock, I had a Edge on the 03. Don't be to quick to go with the 6 speed manual if you are going to get a C&C, the Aisin seems to me to be the way to go now unless you just like to shift gears. It will pull anything I need to pull with no problems at all. The two extra gears make all the difference as far as it being in the right gear, if it is not, step down on it and it gets to the right gear in a hurry. Time will tell, but I believe the 6.7 engine is going to be a winner.

Another thing to remember Dusty...the C&C version with the Aisin gets 180K mile auto tranny warranty, IIRC!! I think they expect it to hold up better than the 47/48RE

Sounds like you finally have figured out what you want to do! I'd say go find one to drive, see if it pulls like you want, and go for it

signature600,

The auto 4 speed (48RE) will not be carried over in to the 2007.5 model year. The 2007.5 will have the new 6.7L along with a new Dodge six speed auto. IIRC it's called a 68 RE or was it RFE.

I know, the 68RFE is the 6 speed, 47/48RE's are 4!

I was just saying that by offering a 180K mile warranty on the Aisin in the Cab and Chassis truck, they must think it will be more reliable than their "in house" transmissions!
