is thier a new FF5320 fuel filter

i just recieved acouple new FF5320 fuel filter for my truck and the new ones have what looks like a metal check valve down the center of the filter about half way. Anyone else seen this or aware of this

Post a pic if possible. I don't see anything like a check valve on the filters I got in November.
