Blackstone will mail you a kit for free. You take a sample during draining at oil change time. That's the most common way. Other ways to sample are thru the dipstick tube, or at you bypass filter device, or your bypass oil filter system return to the oil filler cap. If that's the way your system is setup. Running just 3-5000 miles it is a waste of money to sample IMHO. Run it to at least 7,500 miles to get a good idea of TBN left, solids, and silicates(dirt getting past your intake) People who test their oil understand how people change their oil way too early by witnessing the facts on their own samples.
It's absolutely worth doing it at least once just for the learning experience if anything.
Cheers
Mike

There are several out there.

I use amsoil services....http://oaitesting.com/

You buy the kit, but that covers the analysis charges. You can even buy them prepaid for shipping, then just hand it to any ups store or ups driver.

Tony's right. There are several oil testing services out there including Oilguard.com. I just didn't want to push the brand that I had.
Cheers
