I think the market is pretty straight forward, those who haul people more often than large cargo. My truck is for personal use only and I don't recall every lamenting the short bed or needing to haul something I can't fit. I can haul 4x8 sheets of plywood just fine. Anything more and I get it delivered anyway as there would be a lot of material. Also I will be getting a dump trailer to haul large amounts of material if needed, and to move my compact diesel tractor if needed.
On the other hand I frequently have my daughters (in car seats) in the back so more cab space would be great.
For the construction worker work truck, stick with the RC or QC long bed. This thing will be for the personal use market, which is probably a lot larger than the work truck market now with the popularity of pickups.

As us baby boomers retire, the RV "personal use" market is large and getting larger. Unfortunately, Dodge is going to miss it again if they don't consider our needs.

I think it's fair to assume Dodge will produce a club cab long bed, not necessarily in '06 but eventually. Expect to pay for it though as they won't make very many of them compared to the variety of models they have now. they won't refuse an opportunity to tap that market wih the Cummins and steal a lot of buyers from Ford/Chevy.

A 6' bed? That's alot of truck for only 6' of hauling capacity. I'd much rather have the Quad Cab and an 8' bed.
When you add a long bed to a full crew it''s just too long and unwieldly for me.
IMO the Quad Cab is a pretty good compromise.

IMHO I think the reason the MegaCab will be introduced as a short bed only has to do with $$$$$$, at least in the beginning. By only allowing the Megacab to be used in conjunction with the shortbed it lets DC maintain just the two current wheelbase lenghts. The shorter one being used for regular cabs with the eight foot beds or QC's with the short bed and the longer one being used for QC's with an eight foot bed or the MegaCab short bed. Unfortunetly, this means no MegaCab duallys for the time being unless DC adds a third wheelebase.

Thats MR Hoss to you buddy!
I wish they would just forget the whole Megacab concept and just make a real crew cab like everyone else is doing. So what if the truck is 6" longer. Just give us a real crew cab without compromising on everything else.

I doubt the so called Mega Cab will be a HD truck. Sounds to much like a way to compete with all the other short - short bed (less than 6') 1/2 ton crew cab trucks out there. I think DC is the only manufacter that doesn't have one yet, except the Dakota.
GM and Ford don't offer less than a standard short bed in a HD truck, why would Dodge? I see a crew coming out mid-year or a year after a 1/2 ton version with a standard short or long bed option.
IMO (crossing my fingers )

ford and gm cost a lot more than dodge because they build on a litteany of platforms ie; lots of overhead. dodge builds on two wheelbases this saves a lot of money dodge does very well without following the idoicy of ford and gm and we save because of it if ya'll are dumb enough to push them down the same path as the others we'll eventually get the same as the others. There are things that I want but I won't do ingorant things to get them hopefully DC thinks the same way

So you're suggesting that instead of telling Dodge what we all really want then we should just shut and up and take whatever they decide to give us?
