Re:Synthetic Diff Oil

I haven't put any redline oil in my truck yet but plan to. I asked the redline tech people which oils they recommended for the Cummins 3500 Ram and this is what they said:

>I would recommend the Red Line 75W90 in the differential.

>The C+ATF would be recommended for the transmission.

> Red Line 15W40 for the engine oil.

Re:Synthetic Diff Oil

I am planning on changing all fluis to synthetic, I looked in the manual and was unable to locate the amount required for Transmission, Transfercase, Front & rear differentials. Does anyone know the proper capacitys for these items? ???

Re:Synthetic Diff Oil

I believe for the 2004 2500 frt and rear ends are 4 quarts each...Auto trans somehwere near 13 quarts (don't forget the toque converter) and the transfer case should also be somehwere around 4 quarts....

Just call your local Dodge dealer parts counter....

Oh yeah, what's the difference between Redline products and Amsoil (besides price)..

Re:Synthetic Diff Oil

Here are the capacities from the DRM (all nominal refill capacities):

NV4500 8.0 pts
NV5600 9.5 pts

NV271/273 4 pts

9.25” AAM 4.75 pts
10.5” AAM 4.75 pts
11.5” AAM 7.65 pts

Nothing mentioned about the 47 or 48RE auto tranny.

Amsoil and Redline are both great oil(s). If you go to the Amsoil site and spend 10 bucks to be a preferred customer, you can easily meet the prices of Group IV syn oil at Wally World shipped to your front door.
