I have looked under the hood of a number of 03s up and see the lines at the injectors somewhat damp if that the right wiord.Mine gets that way also. Can clean it and residue starts appearing fairly soon(days).Curious to what is said about yours.

I had the same problem with mine. I had the fuel pressure sensor go bad when the truck was 3 weeks old. The sensor mounts right to the fuel rail in the middle of the engine. The dealer replaced it under warranty but had to order the part. Good luck
I had the diesel smelling common rail on my 2005. The problem turned out to be loose connections to the injectors (both inner and outer nuts going into the head on all six injection lines). You need to have the lines tightened up by a good mech. After mine were tightened, no more dust etc. Also the engine now has much less minor knocks and rattles. The mech. said that the loose connections often lead to a no-start situation. Also the problem of loose lines is relatively common.
I had that happen when I ran my EZ on level 5 which raises the rail pressure pretty high. There's a $1.00 o-ring at the pressure relief valve that had gone on mine. Fixed in two minutes. I'd recommend removing your Quad box before taking it in to a dealership....
