swap an '08 tranny into an '03???
swap an '08 tranny into an '03???
well guys, I think the tranny has finally about had it's run of life. So, I got an idea about replacing it with a newer model. I want more gears in my '03 for some better mileage, and I think it will be better for my towing application. its an auto trans. I was wondering if it is possible to get an auto trans from, for example, an 08 which i read has 6 gears, and swap it into my 03. Or, is it more pheasable to swap in an nv56? OR, is there a better option out there?
Thats been talked about on here many times. Replacing a 48RE with a 68RFE
would be nice. I heard there is no computer program that is compatible with the two.
I sure would like to here that It could be done, as I would do it in a heart beat.
The NV5600 works good. I put 204,000 on my 2000.

I cant speak for the 6 vs 4 spd. However I have read the 48re is stronger that the 68 when it is built.
I wonder if you could build a better 48re for the cost of replacing with a stock 68re? With the right builder making a tranny to your specs, seems like a win win.
At the least worth considering before a final decision.
