Suspension parts

I've decieded i'm ditching my KORE Recon. For a few reasons mostly being the lift was all hype, the ride on or the minor offroading i've done has improved pretty much nothing, and for the money they cost I just can't be happy with it. Secondly, I want more lift. I want a 6" lift probably Skyjacker or Fabtech, not to concerned I just want Bilstein shocks for sure. Anyways, i'm wondering were you guys buy your suspension stuff from, i've bought from TGC before and didn't like waiting 5 weeks for them to send out the order I know Thuren is really good, but on their site I haven't seen things like coils, rear leafs etc, so didn't think he makes everything for a full kit?

Don makes everything, but not for a 6" lift.

I have heard the Revtek kit rides really well for a 6" lift, and that was before the long arm came out.

I'm not sold on the long arm yet. I won't weld on my frame, and i'm really not picky about removing the lower control arm brackets off the frame. Other then that i'd really like a long arm, if only there was one that was totally bolt on, will most likely go with short arm. But I will look into their stort arm.

The longer the arms, the smoother the ride.

+1 on the longarms riding better. The longer the arm the longer the arc the axle travels on, the less forward and reverse motion on the axles is felt in the cab. I went from a 18" radius arm with bushings to a 36" arm with heims on my Bronco, the ride is night and day better on road and off. I'm sure the coilovers helped too

I wouldn't do a 6" lift without long arms.

The top gun long arm kit is a bolt on kit and will ride MUCHO better than short arms at that amout of lift. Get your coil springs from thuren, bilsteins anywhere, something to bring the rear up and your setup for a good ride. If you do blocks in the rear, you'll need traction bars which reduce ride quality. So don't skemp on the back end either.

^^^^ Awe, that poor red twuck forgot its fwont dwiveshaft.

Didn't even consider putting near springs in the rear, would be nice but it's like an extra $450. My budget for the lift is about $1500 max, can't afford anymore when i'm in school and not working, and once I add in new track bar and all that jazz, long arms will be pushing my budget. I'm not overly worried about the rear, blocks are cheap and it wouldn't be a big deal for new springs down the road. Unless I can find a used one, but haven't had any luck. Has anyone had say a 6" lift with short and upgraded to long arms? Really wondering what kind of difference there is. Biggest lift i've had was a 4.5" skyjacker on my 01 2500, and except for the AAL in the rear the ride didn't really change over stock.

TBH I didn't mind the ride not improving over stock, the reason I didn't like the KORE was because it's so expensive and wasn't giving me any benefits, so no point in having it.

I had a 6" lift and upgraded to long arms at the same time that I added a 2.5" spacer and 5.5 " block. So no spring rates were changed. The truck rode night and day different. The coils I have are the really stiff Superlift ones and just changing to a longer arm,(in my case - a radius arm) made all the difference.

I'm just saying that if your out for a better ride, your not gonna do better than you got without a longer arm. If you just want to take the truck up higher, go ahead, but the ride won't be better with your short radius arms pointing at a 45 degree angle towards the ground.
