Suspension Geometry- help

Guys

Ive been reading a few threads and sources of information that have stated that leveling kits throw off your suspension geometry. I currently have a 2-2.5" spacer on the truck and am interested in taking it off..

1. Is this true- about the geometry?
2. If i take the spacer off, what can/should i replace it with? From who? (Coils?)
3. If i take it off and dont replace it with anything, what other parts would need to go back to stock?- (i have thuren end links for 0-3" lift, and bilstein shocks for leveled height)

Thanks for any input.

A 2" leveling kit will not change the geometry by much. I would say 4" (Lift kits) and up is where you see the big changes.

Why do you want to remove yours?

eh well i have been considering removing mine and replacing with a possibly better option if there is one. and for the reasons of being told about the geometry

while i know the ride on anything over a 1/2ton is stiff, im curious to know if my spacers aid in that and if coils are any different... better or worse

Yes the leveling kit changed the suspension geometry.

Specifically:

1) Axle centering side to side
2) Axle centering front to rear and angle of attack to the road
3) Caster

It also changes how the axle cycles thru its movement up and down, steering defflection, and effected the stabilizer bar effectiveness.

The better solution amounts to 3" inches of lift in the front with better springs and a mini-pack in the back. That will give you a better ride and th esuspension works correctly then, but, if you want to keep things correct in the geometry that will entail adjustable track bar, adjustable upper and lower control arms, and drop blocks for the stabilizer bar.

You can get away without doing those things but the uspension function and geometry has been compromised and it will eventually show up in some way.

Adjustable trackbar and some Thuren/Carli 1/2" longer/stronger Ca's work wonders. CA's are next when taxes come.

I am currently running thurens track bar. Sounds like I should look into the control arms, coils and drop blocks. No6ohno, would you be able to point me in the direction of these items?

Are there coils that will lift me 3 in the front that way I don't have to add a mini pack in the rear?

Check out the KORE leveling kit here http://www.koreraceshop.com/leveling-kits.aspx I think both Carli and Thuren have a comparable kit.

These kits all say 3" of lift in the front with springs and I think that is going to require at least 1" in the rear. Might need to call and verify. Maybe they use a different spring.

Don's coils will give you a true 3" of lift and a super nice ride. Kore's VR's are the stiffest. I use them because of my camper load.
