X-wife, many years ago, flat towing my 2 year old '79 Chevy 3/4 ton 4x4 to California behind a large U-Haul truck. She had a friend disconnect both drive shafts so she figured it was OK to put the trans in Park and remove the keys. Even though she was complaining the darn U-Haul truck was pulling badly to the right, it wasn't until 40 miles down the interstate, when someone got in front of her and forced her to stop that she finally got out to see what was wrong.
Moral of story? Don't remove keys when flat towing. The first corner you go around, the streeing wheel will lock with the front wheels pointed to the side. And you can imagin what your new front tires will look like after being drug sideways for 40 miles.
The Boss Hog
Edit: OK, I admit, when she called and told me what she was doing BEFORE she left, I thought it was OK . . .

This has a little to do with my truck, I left my $200.00 24V circular saw on my tailgate yesterday noticed that my gate was down about 10 min. into my drive home........I HATE CELLPHONES!!!!!!!!!!
Go to get my Vette out of storage, the battery is dead. No biggie, going to have to push the vette out of the storage lot to jump it. Get in front, start pushing, hits a lip, going to have to give it a little bigger push. Well forget the drivers door is open, so I get the Vette over the lip, and it starts to pick up momentum.. Can't get it stopped and the door goes right into the side of the garage. I'm still sick... Anyone know a good fiberglass repair shop near St. louis?
Well as for me... I operate a backhoe for a utility... The old phrase from the spotter... "did ya feel something" Me " I don't think so let me take a little more out" nuf said!!! 1 wet spotter & 1 water service nicked....
Now my EX (she is my EX so I can tell this without repercussions).. bought a brand new 03 7.3 loaded 55K ford f250.. ( I know first mistake but it is a nice truck and its been dependable).. Before she measured it she measured the top of her parking structure and it cleared by about 2 inches.... what she didn't take into account was the entrance of the garage was a steep downward hill and flattened under the gate.. Smacked the roof first night she had the truck... then did nothing but complain because there is no parking in front of her condo.. the 2 block walk used to get to her.

I believe if I had a Vette it would stay in the living room and the old lady would get the boot! I know Vette owners have a lot of pride in their rides.... This is a sad story.... not a stupid story
When I went to install my EGT probe I thought I had my hole tapped straight. Well it was straight but I tapped it leaning at an angle so the probe would not screw in correctly.
Had to go buy a new manifold from the dealer for $280 or so.

While plumbing the copper line from my boost bolt to the boost gage I was under the dash when I heard a pop and smelled smoke. The line had bumped the positive battery terminal and a steel brake line. I didn't think anything of it until I noticed the master cylinder was leaking a couple days later.
