strange vibration

My '05 has a vibration that occurs at less than 20 mph, brakes or no brakes, in gear or in neutral, but empty only. Loaded with maybe 600 lbs, there was no vibe. It is real mild, but easy to notice. It feels like drive train somewhere, but where? Any ideas?

Thanks for replies

I've been finding some posts on u joints and drive line balancing. Another question is, can I tow again once before getting repairs? Not a big trip, a 10k 5'er.

Well, define "not a big trip." If it's 30 miles or less round trip, you should be ok. If it's any more than that, I would try to get it fixed before you go. You don't want a drive shaft coming loose, that can tear up all kinds of stuff.

Diagnosis: rear u-joint

And it's under warranty, $100 deductible. Let's hope they do it right.

make sure they pull and check EVERY joint... not just replace the first one they come to that seems bad... If not, you will end up with 5-6 of those 100.00 deductibles for 50.00 worth of u-joints. !!.

Personally I wouldn't run it without fixing it. I wouldn't want it to fail on the road, or do anything to the transfer case.
