Stock engine parameters?
Still trying to gain a little knowledge before I commit.
For a stock truck what is the boost pressure when heavily loaded.
Same question for EGTs.
If I buy I will be hauling a 13K fifth wheel with a GCVW of around 22-23K.
Where I live long mountain passes are a given.
Anybody else running a similar combo with gauges, no boxes or programmers?
Thanks

Max boost pressure will be in the neighborhood of 34psi...with it sustained around 28ish. EGT may vary a little from truck to truck....but I would guess in the 1200-1300 range pulling a mountain pass with that load.
I would recommend you go with 4.10 gears and get a dually for that load. Id prob opt for the 6 speed manual too, if most of your driving will be in the Mtns. Probably should also order the Jake Exhaust Brake too. You are going to be in the upper limits of what the truck is "rated" for, but the Cummins should pull it fine.
If you put on an aftermarket air intake and straight thru 4'' exhaust system it should cool down the EGTs maybe 150 degrees or so. Good luck.

My 5th wheel camper weighs about 13K loaded (34' Carriage Cameo). My truck (and my previous 05 truck) does fine in the mountains. I usually down shift to 3rd on long, steep grades to keep from laboring the engine and keep the egt's down. I don't have gauges, but I am confident with the stock engine everything is ok. Dual wheels and a straight shift would be nice if you are using your truck to mostly pull a trailer. I only use my truck to pull a trailer a few times a year and havn't had any stability problems with the single rear wheels or problems pulling any hills due to the auto transmission. My trailer has a fairly light pin weight of about 1.8K to 2.3k depending how I have it loaded. If you have a heavier pin weight, you should probably have a dually. I think I would prefer a manual transmission if I used the truck to mostly pull trailers. Given that 70% of the time the truck is empty, I prefer an auto tranny for driving in town, etc. The new manual transmission that Dodge is using is geared too low for my taste. Using larger tires to comensate for the lower gearing is not an option if you pull a fifth-wheel. Carefully consider the alternatives and then equip the truck the way you want it.
