Stablizer installed -DSS

I decided to buy the dss stabalizer and install it on my truck. There seems to be only a few folks that run them. I tend to be a little rough on my truck off road and figured might be saving me a PS box down the road. It was a straight foward install and took me a little over an hour. With a helper could have been done in about 45 min. PITA trying to hold the bracket in place and bolt up the track bar. Other than that, it is a great design, and seems to have stiffened up the steering.

Got it installed yesterday just before my oil change at the dealer. The tech called the Service manager out to the shop and showed him. They really liked it. Apparently they have replaced a few of the boxs due to larger tires.

and then there is a smooth shaft for the bearing part??
is it all one piece??

Yes sir, exactly how you said it. I installed mine about a week or so ago. Seems to have cleaned things up some, but I still get some play in the wheel when hitting bumps, expansion joints, such. Not sure where to turn next for that though...

Yes that is how it works, it is all one piece.

I have one and think the DSS is a real nice piece. The forces in the steering components are large in these trucks. The DSS take lateral movement out of the steering shaft.

So, where does one get one of these and how much? I know now that this may be my problem after a lengthy discussion about steering stabilizer shocks with Sean @ Lorenz Industries.

Btw, guys don't waste your money on aftermarket steering stabilizer shocks - they do nothing better than the OEM one unless you spend about a $1000 for the Carli dual system - only then aftermarket starts doing some good.

Well, here is the manufacturer is Solid Steel
And here is their list of Dealers
That ought to set you in the right direction.

Interesting that you say this about dual steering stabilizers, as I was pondering a Superlift dual setup to try and set mine on the straight and narrow. Now I am losing direction...

Well, I spent about a half hour on the phone with Sean about the stock steering stabilizer shock when I was ordering up my Bilstein 5100's - what I thought that I was feeling in the steering wheel on the frost heaves up here, as spring started to set in, was not from the inadequate steering stabilizer shock.

He explained how they work and suggested that if I was ever to replace just the shock due to leaking or wearing out down the road, stick with the OEM part unless I wanted to step up to the Carli system. Anything else, would just be a waste of money.

Talk to Sean yourself if you wish - very informative IMHO.

I ordered mine from pure diesel power. shipped straight from the canadian dealer. I was going to go with the dual set up, but i think that bracing the sector shaft and frame from flexing is probably more worth it up front. I will eventually be doing the 8" long arm rockcrawl and put in a fox stabalizer, like the ones that come in the kore system. I dont like the look of the duals. what is the carli system...i would like to check them out, anyone with a website?

Here's the one I made:

The Stainless Steel Steering Shaft Stabilizer also incorporates a swaybar drop mount to preserve the factory geometry.
