Speedometer calibration
I just installed 35 inch tires on my 2004.5 2500 4X4. Went down to my local dealer to get the speedometer calibrated and he tells me they don't do that anymore. They'll only calibrate to stock tires sizes. What now? I can easily find out what my real speed is with my GPS, but I would rather not be continually doing the math while driving. Has anyone done one of these newer trucks yet?
I called my Dealer and he said basically the same thing...he could only program for stock tire sizes I told him he was full of it, supposedly DC instructed them to do this? You could always try another Dealer and if that doesn't work you could purchase a TruSpeed. I haven't picked up my 315's yet...not sure which route to take.
HdPower,
Thanks for the tip. I ordered one today. Looks like it will be usefull anytime I change tires. I guess I could even calibrate for tire wear. What a deal.
Looks easy to install.

FYI I called another Dealer out of my area, actually Rick Hunt Dodge in Warrenton VA , the service writer was preaching to me about the negatives of going with the larger tires on my truck. He said that not only would that void my warranty but that there are all kinds of liability concerns when changing from the factory reccommended tire sizes. Not only that but he was telling me that it would alter the stability of the truck and make it dangerous.....WOW this guy was a real piece of work, I have run larger than stock tires on all kinds of trucks and have never encountered a single problem. Guess I will be looking into some other way, I want to get this straight before I upgrade my tires.
