Singing/whining sound @ 30-32 mph
So I ran my rig in 4 wd hi the other day for about 25 miles on snow packed road. Never went above 35 mph. Today I'm driving on the highway in 2wd and took my foot off the pedal and coasted. I'm coasting in drive and get down to around 33-31 mph and I hear this singing-whining noise. Not really loud and it goes away at 30 mph. I get up to 40 mph and shift trans into neutral and coast down to 33-32 mph and get the same singing-whining noise. I hear this noise at 33-32 mph and always goes away at 31 mph. Anybody ever experienced this. Sounds kind of like it's coming from the transfer case but I can't exactly pinpoint the exact location.
i have the same noise, u kind of get used to it. I greased that carden joint a couple of weeks before it started singing so i doubt its that. Who knows just try and not let it bother u. Turn the radio on. my 99 does it too.
there is a recessed grease fitting in the carden joint, idk if 03's have it. My 05 started doing it a few weeks ago, when cold its pretty loud. idk what it is. it is a little bothersome but im trying hard not to worry about it.like i said before, my 99 has done it for the past 8 years and everything works as it should, it might be the turbo but who knows, I know the whine of bad gears and this isnt it. The sound is like howling wind really high pitched leads me to believe its turbo, but its working normally.
If it was the turbo wouldn't it do it when in neutral and you rev it a little? Like you said, everything is working fine on mine and I'm going to try to not let it bother me. Thanks for the replies.
