Looter thread bickering

I DID have a noticable difference in sound with the ring out. If you told me it gave me 10 horses, I would believe you just because I was mashing the pedal for a week afterwards to hear the spool.

Removing the silencer ring and baffles definately lowers your fuel milage...
... because your foot will always be AWN IT!

I love the sound of the turbo bouncing off the car next to me. Sometimes a little too much! I can only imagine what this thing will sound like when I finally get around to getting an intake and a straight pipe....

Just wondering if its hard to capitalize the first letter in every word of every sentence or does your computer do it automatically? Just wonderin', caught my attention....

I just completed this mod, and I cannot tell a difference other than a change of pitch of the turbo whine.....not louder, which I wanted, but a lower growl which is not cool. Am I doing something wrong? Is there another step I missed?

If you don't have an intake on your truck you won't really notice much difference taking out the ring. The intakes let the whine from the turbo out so much better than the stock POS air box. I have a AEM Brute force intake and my ring removed and that sucker is FREAKIN LOUD!!! I love it, in fact love it so much that I hardly ever listen to my high dollar stereo just because I just love the whine and the exhaust!!

And no, taking the ring out doesn't hurt performance or mileage ( well if you can keep you foot out of it ) Turbo bark is a lot less now with it removed, almost none at all. The reason for that ( IMO ) is that when you let off the gas, the air from the turbo surges out of the small hole in the ring therefore making the surging sound. With the ring removed the air has a lot bigger hole to flow out of preventing the air from surging as bad..........could be full of crap but it makes since to me

I took my silencer ring out AND removed the entire assembly between the air box and the turbo...replacing it with a homemade torque tube. I noticed no change in performance in either direction, but the turbo is MUCH louder.

I call mine a 375/775...and that's only because I can't find that 4th level on my Edge EZ.

Those three slots behind the ring on the housing are mapwidth enhancers wich allow more air to the bottom compressor fin. Holset designed it that way

The Cureved baffle is what did it mostly, make sure that goes back in for sure.

Dont remove them, They keep the flow "laminar". Those curved peices really make a diff. with getting air around that elbow.

So, do you guys think that buying that 5.5 in. intake tubing, and just replacing the stock tube with that, and leaving the stock elbows would be the best bet??
