Shutter while coming to a stop...
My truck has 58,000 miles on it, with the last 6,000 being mine. It has developed a shutter while slowing down and comes on at about 20 mph down to 10 mph then seems to get less pronounced. When it first did it, it felt like I was driving on rumble strips. Well I wasn't so I thought I had a flat tire but that wasn't the case either. When it started this shutter, it was doing it while driving forward as well as slowing down.
I thought it might be the clutch but it does it with or without the clutch pedal depressed. It also does it while not pushing on the break pedal.
Another kicker, is that after driving it that way for the weekend (no other option) it went away for a couple weeks but now its back but not as bad.
I thought it was my front-end going out because I did need new upper ball joints and inner tie rods so I took it in and had them replaced. However, it didn't fix the shuttering issue, which now only does it while slowing or stopping.
I think my steering box is going out because the mechanic said he adjusted it but it was still loose. Could this possibly be the culprit?
Also, what are you guys replacing the stock steering gear box with?
Thanks

Parents 05 had the same type of problem at 70k miles. Took me a while to figure it out as the u-joints didn't have slop and the seals 'looked good'.
Finally figured it out as I was under the truck at dusk with a flashlight and the light hit a glimmer. That glimmer was a little bit of exposed u-joint trunion from 1/3 of the sealing lip on one of the caps being gone. Tore it apart and the cap was dry and the bearings were seizing to the trunion at low speed or at really high speed (60mph+).
I'd definitely suspect u-joints and go over them with a fine toothed comb.
