Should i change transmission fluid?

Should i change transmission fluid?

I have an 03 2500 6 speed with 85k miles on it, i just bought it and was wondering if i should change the transmission/ differentials and what is the procedure on the transmission. thanks

No service record, I would change the fluids anyhow just for peace of mind.

Just remove the lowest bolt on the PTO cover, this will drain the transmission. Replace bolt. There is a 17MM?? ellen plug just reward of the pto cover on drivers side you need to remove to refill it. Fill until fluid runs out, put plug back in, your done.

Use synchromesh type fluid.

Rear diff gets changed every 25,000km on towing duty and never on light duty according to my manual. There must be some middle ground

I pull some and change every 50k. Front could probably go longer but its spinning all the time also. I do both.

There's a PTO cover on a 48RE??

I thought there was only one way to drain the fluid: pull the pan

He was asking about a 03 2500 6SPEED.That has a PTO cover and does not have a trans pan.
